Nutrition and Diet Counseling
Naturopathic doctors are experts in nutrition and using food as medicine. During my internship and residency, I completed over 1000 hours of dedicated nutrition and diet counseling with patients. Part of my job as a primary care doctor is to advise my patients on how to improve their health with nutrition. I am currently working on finalizing requirements to become credentialed as a Certified Nutrition Specialist with the American Nutrition Association.
The old saying, “you are what you eat,” is only half true. The food that goes in your body must be properly digested, absorbed, assimilated, and eliminated. If you are eating healthy foods but your gut is not functioning properly, you are not getting the full benefit of your diet. Nutrition and digestive health are foundational aspects of overall health. I offer natural options for improving and optimizing gut health and nutrition. I specialize in addressing the root cause of these digestive dysfunction and supporting clients with a wide varieties of natural solutions.
At some point in their lives, most Americans have tried to change their diet to improve their health or lose weight. For many people, knowing which foods to choose, how to prepare them, and how to exercise are a major source of confusion and frustration. For many people, dieting has often been a lifelong pursuit that has negatively impacted their relationship with food and their bodies.

I have extensive experience working with patients with bigger bodies to optimize their health. I have lectured on body positive, weight-neutral medicine and the dangers of weight bias, weight stigma in medicine at the Food As Medicine Institute and Naturopathic Medical Students Association Annual Conference.
I want to change the way you see food and the way you see your body. Food is fuel, and we need the proper balance of nutrients for our bodies to work optimally, but food is about more than just fueling our bodies. It’s also related to our cultures, our communities, our comfort, and our celebrations. I work with patients to incorporate all these aspects of food into their nutrition plans. I want to help you learn to love healthy food and incorporate it into a balanced diet that isn’t restrictive.
